Fall

Yesterday while I was getting ready for work, I looked outside on the patio. There I saw two little yellow leaves falling off the trees, drifting slowly to the ground. While I was going to work, I saw that some of the trees were beginning to turn.

This morning, when I went outside, I was surprised to feel how cool it was. Ahhh. I have gotten used to it being unbearably hot outside...now it is getting cool. Yay.

Pretty soon it will be Halloween...time to carve pumpkins and eat roasted pumpkin seeds....eat way too much Halloween candy...roast marshmallows on a hot fire....Ahhh.

I can't wait.

My Musical History

(by Reagan Bockhold)

NOTE: Thanks to Scott for the idea.

I love music. I really do. Given the choice between watching TV and listening to the radio, I will almost always go for the radio. My own CD collection is limited only by the amount of money in the bank. (Compliation CD's are my friends, folks.) My favorite TV show is American Idol...There have (believe it or not) been many quality contestants: Clay Aiken, Kelly Clarkson, Kimberley Locke, Bo Bice, Carrie Underwood...Unfortunately, those who got contracts with the Idol record company didn't have their talents used to the best of their abilities. For instance, Kelly Clarkson's first CD only had one good song on it (Miss Independent). However, her most recent CD (which was not produced by Idol) has at least three hits on it, and a fourth one is gaining on the charts. But that's neither here nor there.....

On with my history!

CLASSIC ROCK (1978-1986): That is the earliest music I listened to, circa the late 70's and early 80's. Or shall I say, heard. Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, the Bee Gees, Chicago, CCR, etc. My mother acquired a tape with old hits from the 1950's and 1960's. My younger sister loved it. Me? Not so much. My older brother and sister enjoyed rock music, so naturally that's what we listened to.

KIDDIE POP (1985-87): My sister and I obtained our first tape deck Christmas of 1985. We also got two tapes: The Nutcracker Suite and Wee Sing and Play. We learned many new kids songs from around the world with the Wee Sing tape. We also enjoyed the Nutcracker tape. Later on, we would check out tapes from the library. One I remember was a tape of songs in American History. There was also a Christian Mother Goose tape. One Christmas, we got a tape with some Christmas songs on it, and we played it quite a bit.

BUBBLEGUM POP (1987-90): The moment I had any kind of say-so as to what music to listen to, I started on what is better termed as Bubblegum Pop. Ya know...Janet Jackson (pre-wardrobe malfunction), Paula Abdul (To this day, Forever Your Girl is my favorite song from that era...), Tiffany, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Gibson...My official first band crush was on New Kids On The Block. I had several shirts, buttons, books, posters...My favorite was Jordan. Unfortunately, a rumor spread about them in my elementary school. Let's just say it was totally unfounded. But at any rate, they promptly became uncool.

THE BLACK HOLE (1991-94): I don't remember very many songs from this era, and even fewer that I enjoyed. I remember I was a fan of Color Me Badd. (Now I cringe whenever I hear a song from them...Change of heart, maybe?) Later on, most of my classmates would sing to "Bat in a Cage" or dreck like that. I praise God that even back in those days, I had the good sense not to deal with music like that. It seemed for awhile that the more nonsensical or hate-centered a song was, the cooler it was (e.g. I Hate Everything About You, "I'm moving to the country, I'm gonna eat me a lot of peaches...", the MmmMmm song, etc.)

CHRISTIAN POP (1994-96): This was my first exposure to the Newsboys, Audio Adrenalin, DC Talk, etc. I had several tapes of these artists (because I still didn't have a CD player yet). I also had several tapes of musicians that would do youth rallies at my church and at church camp.

RETURN TO BUBBLEGUM POP (1996-97): Hanson. The Spice Girls. The Cardigans (whaaaa?). Enough said. Well, not quite. My friends back then had a thing about the "If Ya Wanna Be My Lover" song by the Spice Girls. It was amusing. Okay, now enough said.

PARTY MIX HITS (1997-99): This was the music that was played at every party known to man. "My Pony," "Come On (Ride The Train)", "Tubthumping"...you could hear this stuff on any college campus or any fraternity house in the country. Ah, those were the days.

After about 2000 or so, my music tastes became much more eclectic. As in, I didn't listen to any genre of music exclusively. So it is today.

Conclusion: I listen to what I enjoy. Period. I have a few artists that I enjoy (I like Maroon 5, LifeHouse, and others), but mostly I enjoy individual songs that have meaning to me.

BLUE SOCK! BLUE SOCK!!!

Next Time I Fall

Love like a road that never ends
How it leads me back again
To heartache
I'll never understand
Darling, I put my heart upon a shelf
'Till the moment was right, and I told myself

The next time I fall in love
I'll know better what to do
The next time I fall in love
Ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo
The next time I fall in love
The next time I fall in love
It will be with you

Now as I look into your eyes
Well I wonder if it's wise
To hold you like I've wanted to before
Tonight I was thinking that you might
Be the one who breathes life in this heart of mine

The next time I fall in love
I'll know better what to do
The next time I fall in love
Ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo
The next time I fall in love
The next time I fall in love
It will be with you

Next time I'm gonna follow through
And if it drives me crazy
I will know better why
The next time I try

The next time I fall in love
I'll know better what to do
The next time I fall in love
Ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo
The next time I fall in love
The next time I fall in love
It will be with you

Sick

I got really bad heat-sick yesterday. I had to go to bed right when I got home from work. Funny thing is, I drank a LOT of water yesterday. Ho hum.

In other news....wait, I have none. Never mind.

Today I:

Shout-Outs:
--Melissa Pazzo and her boyfriend Matt are engaged! Congrats!
--Laura and Phillip are engaged, too! Congrats again!
--Brian Mays gave me a CD of the Financial Peace stuff that he and Misti have been studying. I haven't gotten a chance to look at it yet, but I will as soon as I can get ahold of a DVD player.

Yahoo Messenger

Last night I got the following message on my Yahoo! Messenger:

Hi I noticed you were into scrapbooking. I am too. I am looking for someone to scrapbook with and also to be intimate with. The hobby would be known but the intimacy would be hidden from family, friends, kids, etc. Hope to hear from you soon!

Uh...........no.

Enough of Crazy Life

I have enough of crazy, yet boring, life. After work today, I am gonna go to the Shawnee Jazz Festival.

Sure wish I had a special someone to enjoy it with me....

Sick Again

Oh, my gosh, I was sooooo sick last night. I went to the Veranda in Shawnee and ordered a double chocolate frappe. Well, I took two sips of it and couldn't finish the dang thing. I thought I was gonna throw up on my way home. Yicht. But I am feeling better this morning, though. Good thing, too...it's gonna be a Long Day. Sigh.

Rita

OK, guys. This hurricane Rita is making my heart drop in my chest. Again. At times, I feel like crying, "When will it end?!!"

The hardest part for me is realizing that, once again, I am gonna be locked in my home area (because of high gas prices and everything). And I still haven't gotten a job offer. And time is running out.

Despair...that is what I feel, so very often. Does God want me to suffer? Well, no, of course not. Sometimes God allows suffering to happen so that we can learn from it.

Sorry guys. I'll cheer up here momentarily.

Not Much to Talk About

I think the title says it all. Yesterday I worked, went home, and went to bed. I ate the dinner buffet at Mazzio's, but I doubt that counts as excitement in ANYONE's book.

Oh, yeah. Today I have been checking out Homestarrunner.com for like, two hours. It's, of course, uproariously funny. As always. I just love random humor. (But of course, you guys know that, right?)

Weekend

Wow...well, I will post a real post this morning. How's about that?

This weekend I went to the State Fair. Of course, I ate much more than was necessary. I had a Chicken Gyro and a Cheesecake on a Stick. (Yes, Cheesecake on a Stick! It was so good, too!) We all looked at cars. I have decided that I want a small car...with very good gas milage. Oh, well. Can't afford it right now. :-)

Then on Sunday I went to community group at Council Road. I am really, really beginning to like it there. A lot. I am feeling like I felt when I first started going to Village. Don't get me wrong, Village will always be my first church home. It's just that I need to be a part of an active single's group. :-)

Monday, September 19, 2005

Ack!

My nose is running. It's fall, all right. :-)

I am fixing to go home from work and take a long nap. Well, first I am gonna eat lunch. Then I'll take a nap. I also need to check my Sonic schedule for next week. Sigh.

Friday, September 16, 2005

Wow

For the first time in weeks, I actually have plans tonight! Yeep. Aren't I cool?

I'm so charming
Oh so charming
It's alarming how charming I feel

I am pretty
Oh so pretty...

Okay, that's enough. :-)

Cherish

Let's take a walk together near the open shore
Hand in hand you and I..
Let's cherish every moment we have been given
The time is passing by..
I hope and pray before I lay down
By your side
If you receive your calling before I awake
Could I make it through the night..

Cherish the love we had, we should cherish the life we live..
Cherish the love, cherish the life, cherish the love..
Cherish the love we had, for as long as we both shall live..
Cherish the love, cherish the life, cherish the love..

The world is always changing nothing stays the same..
But love will stand the test of time..
The next life that we live in remains to be seen
Will you be by my side..
I hope and pray before I lay down by your side
And if you receive your calling before I awake
Could I make it through the night..

Cherish the love we had, we should cherish the life we live..
Cherish the love, cherish the life, cherish the love..
Cherish the love we had, for as long as we both shall live..
Cherish the love, cherish the life, cherish the love..

Cherish the love we had, we should cherish the life we live..
Cherish the love, cherish the life, cherish the love.....

Joke of the Day

Nobody get offended now...I am a blond myself! Thanks to Pazzo for sending this to me...

A guy took his blonde girlfriend to her first football game. They had
great seats right behind their team's bench. After the game, he asked
her how she liked the experience.

"Oh, I really liked it," she replied, "especially the tight pants and
all the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were
killing each other over 25 cents."

Dumbfounded, her date asked, "What do you mean?"

"Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of
the game, all they kept screaming was: 'Get the quarterback! Get the
quarterback!'

"I'm like...Helloooooo? It's only 25 cents!!!!"

One of These Blogs Is Not Like The Other

Okay, so I am going to do the two-blog thing for awhile. I am gonna start adding stuff to my Xanga again. So you get to read me twice in a day. Or more. Isn't that fun?

Here is the new one: www.xanga.com/AngelKitty4OU. I will add it to my sidebar, when I get some time.

Continue to enjoy both of my blogs!

Take a Chance on Me

If you change your mind, I'm the first in line
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
If you need me, let me know, gonna be around
If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down
If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
Gonna do my very best and it ain't no lie
If you put me to the test, if you let me try

Take a chance on me
(That's all I ask of you honey)
Take a chance on me

We can go dancing, we can go walking, as long as we're together
Listen to some music, maybe just talking, get to know you better
'Cos you know I've got
So much that I wanna do, when I dream I'm alone with you
It's magic
You want me to leave it there, afraid of a love affair
But I think you know
That I can't let go

If you change your mind, I'm the first in line
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
If you need me, let me know, gonna be around
If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down
If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
Gonna do my very best and it ain't no lie
If you put me to the test, if you let me try

Take a chance on me
(Come on, give me a break will you?)
Take a chance on me
Oh you can take your time baby, I'm in no hurry, know I'm gonna get you
You don't wanna hurt me, baby don't worry, I ain't gonna let you
Let me tell you now
My love is strong enough to last when things are rough
It's magic
You say that I waste my time but I can't get you off my mind
No I can't let go
'Cos I love you so

If you change your mind, I'm the first in line
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
If you need me, let me know, gonna be around
If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down
If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
Gonna do my very best, baby can't you see
Gotta put me to the test, take a chance on me
(Take a chance, take a chance, take a chance on me)

Ba ba ba ba baa, ba ba ba ba baa
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
Gonna do my very best, baby can't you see
Gotta put me to the test, take a chance on me
(Take a chance, take a chance, take a chance on me)

Ba ba ba ba baa, ba ba ba ba baa ba-ba
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me

Verse of the Day

The Lord my God is my strength, MY PERSONAL bravery, MY invincible army, he makes my feet like hinds feet, and will make me to walk and to not stand still in terror, but to walk and make spiritual progress upon my high places of trouble, suffering or responsibility! Habakkuk 3:19

The Sound of Silence

Well, I didn't make it into the city on Sunday. I am really gonna try to go sometime this weekend, if anyone has plans anytime.

I have a lot to talk about, but I am not sure it is appropriate to talk about on a public forum. The Lord knows what I need.

A Win is A Win

Okay, I feel better now. Thanks!

AngelKitty4??

Is this game over yet? Sigh.

I keep telling myself, "One bad season in 6 isn't too shabby." But...sigh anyway.

You say, "OU has only had two bad games. How can you say that they won't run the board the rest of the year?"

I'm looking at the numbers, folks. If we play this poorly against non-ranked teams...well, let's just say I am no longer looking forward to Oct. 6. In fact, I am dreading it.

Sigh again.

Weak

Still feeling pretty weak today. Maybe it's because I haven't eaten anything solid in almost 48 hours. I don't know.

I work at Sonic tonight, probably 4:30-close. Sigh. I work tomorrow night, too. Oh, well. On Sunday, I have every intention of going to the city for church. I miss my friends.

Holy Junk!

I found a website that I thought was pretty cool. It is Engrish.com. In case you didn't know, Engrish is the sometimes nonsensical translations that Japanese make from their tongue to English.

The website shows a way that you can translate English to Engrish. You just go to a translator website, type in the sentence or word, translate from English to Japanese, then highlight the translation, and then select Japanese to English.

See, the name of this website in Engrish is:

Random accidental accident.

Hmmmm...all too apt, wouldn't you say?

If I translated "Holy crap!" it would be Holy Junk. And if I say, "I am the coolest person I know," it would come out as, "It is the coolest person where as for me I have known."

Therefore, it makes sense that some things become confused in the translation. Ah, well.

If you're happy and you know it...

Stat Counters

I subscribe to a little something called a Stat Counter. It shows me how many hits I have in one day, week, etc. Not impressed? Well, this thing also can track where most of my hits are coming from, the ISP number, etc. It tracks where on my site my viewers go, if they leave a comment, etc.

Soooo....say a person decides to leave a spam comment. Like..."Look at my website on growing three heads!" You will note that by each comment is a time stamp. I go to my trusty, wonderful stat counter and look up my pageload log. I can see who was on my site at the time of the comment. A lot of times, the stat counter will even say who owns the ISP number. From that, I can draw pretty good conclusions.

Sooo...if you are leaving anonymous comments, know that you are not as anonymous as you think you are. Just my Helpful Hint Of The Day.

Blog of the Day

Here is a blog on Hurricane Katrina.

News of my life? I have nothing. I start work again at Sonic Friday night, and I work there again on Saturday. I am also working at the library non-stop. That's about all.

Comic Strip of the Day

Thanks to Brian Mays for emailing it to me.

Baseball Game

Yesterday I attended the RedHawks game in the city. I went with several of the folks at Council Road Baptist Church. They seem to be a fun bunch of people, I must say!

Anyway, didn't do much else than that this weekend. Mainly just work. Sigh.

Where did my life go?

Hurricane Katrina

I haven't said a whole heck of a lot about Hurricane Katrina. Partially because I am not sure how to put my thoughts into words.

All over the news, I have watched people literally dying before the nation's eyes. People searching for help that did not, to their eyes, seem to be forthcoming. People are standing outside, chanting, "Help! Help!" On MSNBC, I saw a mom holding a young baby. She said that she was having a hard time getting the baby to wake up because he was so dehydrated. I could hear the desparation in her voice.

In fact, all over the Superdome, that's a common theme: desparation. Some people haven't eaten for days. There was no drinkable water. Toilets were overflowing. People use boxes to relieve themselves...if they can find one. One gentleman had a seizure on the floor. A grandma lay dead in a wheelchair, covered in a sheet. On the road by the dome, a reporter talked to a camera. A dead man lay behind him, his face covered with a shirt.

That's what I have seen on TV. I am sure the reality is much worse.

For one thing, the stench. Feces, urine, decaying human remains, garbage, gasoline, rotting food...you get the idea. And many of the above contain diseases...some that can be gotten just by standing in contaminated water. Some bacteria may be airborne.

And even if people were inclined to travel the streets, with putrid water up to their waist, they don't dare, because of a few buttclowns that feel it necessary to fire at anyone that moves, who steal television sets that are unlikely to work as they are waterlogged.

Fortunately, things are beginning to happen. National Guard troops are coming in to restore order. Food and water are arriving at the Dome.

Now it remains to be seen if lives can be saved. The majority of these folks in the Dome aren't hoodlums. They are honest citizens who, for whatever reason, could not leave their city. They are young babies, crying for just a drop of water. They are families who are trying to figure out where the heck their lives are gonna go next, who lost everything except each other. They are grandmas and grandpas who went to the Dome because their Social Security check hadn't come yet and they didn't have enough money to leave.

This isn't a black vs. white issue. It's a matter of displaced citizens being in the most pain they have ever been in in their lives.

Please pray for them.
